Privacy Policy

This website has no sign-up, no contact form and no analytics or advertising cookies. The only personal information we receive is what you choose to send us on WhatsApp or by email.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to sami-web.com, the website of SamiWeb, a bootstrapped software company founded and run by Muhammad Sami in Pakistan. SamiWeb builds websites, WooCommerce stores and web applications, and is developing ShelfTalk. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refer to SamiWeb.
Information we receive
- Messages you send us. If you contact us on WhatsApp or by email, including to request ShelfTalk early access, we receive your name, phone number or email address, and whatever you include about your business, store or project.
- Technical data from the hosting provider. The site is hosted by Vercel, which processes standard request data (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Browser session storage. The site saves two small flags in your browser's session storage so it doesn't show the same pop-up twice. They are not cookies, contain no personal information and are deleted when you close the tab.
Third-party services the site loads
To display fonts, icons and images, your browser loads files from these providers, which receive your IP address and browser details when it does:
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com)
- Font Awesome icons via cdnjs (Cloudflare)
- Flag images from flagcdn.com
Some project links open on Vimeo, WhatsApp or the client's own website. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
How we use your information
- To reply to your enquiry and discuss your project
- To contact you about ShelfTalk early access, if you asked for it
- To prepare proposals and quotes
- To deliver, support and invoice work you've agreed to
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising. We only share it with service providers when a project needs it (for example, a hosting company), and only as much as the work requires.
ShelfTalk
ShelfTalk is a self-hosted WordPress plugin. Each store that installs it uses its own Anthropic API key, and the plugin sends its requests from the store directly to the Anthropic API, under the store's own Anthropic account. SamiWeb doesn't receive store data, product data or shopper questions through the plugin. The plugin's README documents what it sends to Anthropic.
On the store itself, ShelfTalk keeps a private question log, includes a personal-data exporter and eraser, and doesn't store shoppers' IP addresses (it uses a salted hash for rate limiting).
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry messages for as long as they're useful for the conversation or project, and project records for as long as needed for support, accounting and legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your messages at any time.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing us. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
Children
This website is meant for businesses and isn't directed at children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If the way the site handles information changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
